the waterbus in action during 2008A successful water bus service, launched for the first time last year, is to be repeated this summer.

The Havenlink service, which links beauty spots along the Milford Haven waterway and Cleddau Estuary, will be launched on 26th June.

Piloted for the first time last year, the service is designed to enable residents and visitors to leave their cars behind and enjoy stress free travel.

Operating every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 27th of September, the expanded ferry service will now operate two vessels.

The first will start from this year's additional port of call Lawrenny and will stop at Burton Ferry, Hobbs Point, Neyland (Brunel Quay), Hazelbeach, Milford Haven (Mackerel Stage) Angle and Dale.

The second vessel will make the return trip from Dale up river to Lawrenny taking in all the stops on the way.

Rhian Higgins, the Pembrokeshire Greenways Officer, said they were delighted to be able to offer an expanded service for 2009.

"Havenlink was greeted with great enthusiasm last year- by both residents and visitors," she said. "We still have a long way to go, but the more people that support and use the service, the more opportunities there will be to develop it in the future."

Havenlink is integrated into existing transport links, including the coastal bus service promoted by Pembrokeshire Greenways. It will be operated by Rudders Boatyard.

Timetables will be displayed on pontoons at ferry stops as well as being available from Tourist Information Centres. It will also be available on the Pembrokeshire Greenways website: www.pembrokeshiregreenways.co.uk

Travellers are reminded that some stops will be tide dependent.

The service is led by Pembrokeshire Greenways, which works to improve access to the Pembrokeshire countryside, in conjunction with Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and Milford Haven Port Authority, which helped commission the pilot in 2008.

Additional partners include Pembrokeshire County Council, PLANED and South West Wales Tourism Partnership.
