With flags flapping in the stiff breeze, the 11th Span Arts 'Big Plant Sale' in Narberth last Saturday [3rd May], drew a large crowd of enthusiasts and amateur gardeners to talk, buy and sell flowers and shrubs.

The weather was kind and over 1,000 people came to see what was on offer from the forty or so growers assembled in the school playground. Landsker clog morris gave a colourful display of old English/Welsh border morris dances that were traditionally performed to welcome in the May days in times gone by.

Sculptures of willow, water plants, herbs and small trees were to be found among the stalls. Many local charities including the British Heart Foundation were there to raise funds at the event which has become a fixture in the Narberth calendar of celebrations.

The next such event will be the midsummer picnic at Narberth Castle on June 21st in partnership with Pembrokeshire Fish Week.
