The 3rd Felinfoel Brewery Double Dragon RNLI Annual Fishing Open, organised by members from Pembroke & District Angling Club, Osprey Sea Angling Club, Haven Angling Group and West Wales Match Anglers, was held recently on Amroth beach in South Pembrokeshire.

Over 60 youngsters competed recently in the Pembrokeshire Schools Disability Swimming Gala.

Held at Fishguard Leisure Centre on Wednesday 20 January, the event was organised by the Federation of Disability Sport Wales (FDSW) along with Sport Pembrokeshire and sponsored by Stena Line.

Pembrokeshire's young swimmers came home with a record medal haul from the Urdd National Swimming Gala at the weekend.

Twenty six finalists won 21 medals including nine Gold, five Silver and seven Bronze.

Young football fans can take to the pitch this winter with Sport Pembrokeshire who are hosting a series of fun football sessions in Haverfordwest on Saturday mornings with the aim of encouraging youngsters of all abilities to take to the pitch and start kicking!

Greetings: A Good New Year to all readers!

Unlike most of you I was able to watch a game of rugby on January 2nd, albeit at Murrayfield, at the Magners League Scottish derby between Edinburgh and Glasgow. We seemed to be sat amongst mainly Glasgow supporters who provided huge support. There must have been 20, 000 + watching the game.

It says a lot for local derbies at holiday time and also the advantage of undersoil heating.

Therefore on the same day at the Club, it was a great shame that despite all the heroic efforts of ten members of Officers and Committee, followed with the pitch approval by the referee, our visitors Carmarthen Athletic declined to play. The cancellation after such an effort is a frustration and disappointment for those organizing and preparing arrangements for Sponsors, Club Supporters and especially to the Treasurer who is faced with continued outgoings.

Congratulations to those involved in the successful Boxing Day visit to Felinfoel, winning 3 - 21 . It promises much for the rest of the season. The ground conditions caused the cancellation of the Boxing Day game at Crymych for the Athletic. Also, well done to the coaching team for ensuring continued training for the players during the freeze.

Condolence: Over the holiday period Vice President Mike Werrett passed away. Of recent times in poor health, his friends brought him to every 1st XV home game. We offer our sincere sympathy to his family and friends.

Re-arranged Fixtures: Fixture Secretary Neil Rossitter is beginning to get a permanent headache with the cancelled games and there are likely to be further problems as a result of the SWALEC Cup game. See below for further details.

Narberth RFC Supporters Club Meat Draw: Winners of the Narberth RFC Supporters' Club meat draw this week are as follows: beef - Joe Lidbury; lamb - Jo Davies; pork - Mathew Davies.

The Supporters' Club raises money each week on behalf of the Rugby Club through the Meat Draw.

Since November 2009 Narberth Squash Club has opened its doors to junior players.

With the help of a grant from the Sports Council of Wales' Community Chest scheme 28 new junior members have been enlisted for Sunday morning coaching with Dave Edwards at Bloomfield House Community Centre in Narberth.

A project enabling people of all abilities to get on their bike could be set up in Pembrokeshire.

Bike Ability Wales provides everyone with the opportunity of riding a bike by offering a variety of specially designed machines for people to use.

Last Week: The whiteout and freezing ground conditions beat all the hard work and efforts of the Club Committee last Friday and Saturday. However, the day's sponsors stayed on and enjoyed an afternoon of merriment and fellowship. We thank them all for their support. The Bridgend home game has now been arranged for Saturday April 17th with a 2.30 pm KO.

Pembrokeshire's top young swimmers took part in a special skills camp at the weekend.

Thirteen of the best swimmers from five County clubs pooled their talent at Crymych Leisure Centre on Sunday [13 December].

1. Last Saturday was a frustrating experience for players, coaches, officers, committee and supporters at Builth where the game was abandoned at 40 minutes due to the referee suffering a diabetic episode which to those nearby looked alarming.
